1. Lake Havasu State Park

Established in 1965 and covering an area of a little over 900 acres, this place sits on the eastern shores of Lake Havasu and the banks of the Colorado River.

Located right along the California state line and about 60 miles southwest of the Kingman city center, Lake Havasu State Park can be reached in a little under one hour via routes I-40 and AZ-95. Once you make your way here, some of the fish species you can find in the waters of the lake include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, bluegill, redear sunfish, and flathead catfish.

 

2. Lake Mead National Recreation Area

Established in the 1930s and spanning an area of over one and a half million acres, Lake Mead National Recreation Area is operated by the National Park Service and is located in the southeastern corner of the state of Nevada. Open throughout the year for several different recreational activities, this place is a true paradise for anglers and a great destination to spend a weekend away from the city.

Getting from downtown Kingman to Lake Mead National Recreation Area takes a little under two hours by car, driving about 100 miles northwest along route US-93. Some of the fish species you can find in the waters of Lake Mead include largemouth bass, striped bass, bluegill, channel catfish, green sunfish, white crappie, rainbow trout, and smallmouth bass.

 

3. Lake Mohave

A scenic reservoir on the Colorado River, Lake Mohave is another excellent fishing destination that can be reached in about 40 minutes by car via route AZ-68. Encompassing an area of over 25,000 acres, this body of water is home to healthy populations of rainbow trout, bonytail chub, striped bass, common carp, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, and largemouth bass.
